OPD - Dermatology
Sundarban
When the foundation is lacking, the future often seems hopeless. That is why proper medical care is more than necessary
The project
In the past 3 years, the population of Sundarbans in the Bay of Bengal has not only suffered greatly from COVID-19 but also from the consequences of global warming and severe climatic conditions. They have faced devastating rainy seasons and multiple cyclones.
The floods not only destroyed several crops but also caused heavy contamination of the available drinking water. One of the severe consequences is the widespread occurrence of skin diseases.
To provide an effective response to this new problem, SSDC opened an OPD - Open Patient Department Dermatology in late 2020. It is a day clinic where people receive initial care and guidance for their skin diseases. The OPD operates and is staffed for one day per week. Every Saturday, between 70 and 100 patients come for consultations.
To make this possible, PAZ has provided the furnishings for the consultation rooms, purchased the necessary instruments and materials, and has been covering the operational and medication costs since 2021.
For 2023, SSDC is requesting a contribution of €10,000.
